City Council Candidacy Announcement
I am Bob Brown and, I am running for City Council to represent District 3. I grew up in Galveston and have lived in the East End Historic District for over 20 years. I am an architect and retired from the Department of Facilities Portfolio Management at UTMB. I have spent most of my adult life in construction, architecture, and planning from swinging a hammer to strategic master planning and, I have a long and solid foundation of public service on the Island. Having grown up here, I also have a long and personal perspective of how Galveston has evolved in good times and bad. The sense of place, the people, the history, the natural beauty, and our island’s vulnerability create a unique diversity that is sometimes difficult to manage as we grow but is absolutely compelling and worthy of my time and best effort to protect.
My long history of civic leadership, professional experience and love for the island prepares me to be an effective advocate at City Hall for the residents of District 3. I believe Galveston’s finest years are ahead and, with your support, we will shape the future to provide the best possible quality of life for those of us that are lucky enough to call Galveston Island home.
